Area 1,628 sq km
Climate Tropical.
Geography Guadeloupe consists of twin islands; Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre separated by a narrow channel.  Basse-Terre is mountainous with the Soufrière volcano some 1,467 m above sea level and has many rivers.  Grande-Terre is generally low-lying.
